Regular Season Round 30: COB - Chantada 61-43

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Chantada (19-9) against eleventh ranked COB (12-16) on Saturday night. Visiting Chantada was defeated by COB in Ourense 61-43. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Chantada. The game was mostly controlled by COB. Chantada managed to win second period 18-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Chantada to just 6 points in first quarter. Forward Cristian Iglesias (198-94) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and Daniel Fernandez (195-99) supported him with 20 points and 4 steals. Even a double-double of 12 points and 16 rebounds by Nigerian forward Jeffrey Solarin (193-92, college: Idaho St.) did not help to save the game for Chantada. American swingman Charles Knowles (196-93, college: William Penn) added 9 points and 9 rebounds. COB maintains eleventh position in Group A-B with 12-16 record. Chantada at the other side keeps the third place with nine games lost. COB will meet Culleredo (#15) on the road in the next round. Chantada will play against Rosalia (#12) and hope to secure a win.
