Regular Season Round 33: SeaHorses - Shimane SM 93-91

Sixth-ranked Shimane Magic (8-45) gave a tough game to first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (44-9) in Kariya. Aishin Sea Horses managed to secure only two-point victory 93-91. However their fans expected much easier game. Aishin Sea Horses made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) nailed 25 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and American center Courtney Sims (211-83, college: Michigan) accounted for 14 points and 13 rebounds. American forward Al Thornton (203-83, college: Florida St.) came up with 38 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and swingman Takuya Soma (181-91) added 27 points and 5 assists respectively for Shimane Magic in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Aishin Sea Horses have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 44-9 record. Shimane Magic lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with 45 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will play against league's leader Ryukyu GK in Okinawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shimane Magic will play at home against Niigata Albirex (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
