The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Kastoria's (16-11) road loss to fourth ranked Apollon Patras (18-9) 75-83 on Saturday. Kastoria was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Alex Acker (196-83, college: Pepperdine) who scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Vassilis Kitsoulis (204-83) chipped in 20 points. Four Apollon Patras players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Nikos Kaklamanos (189-81) who recorded 21 points and point guard Giannis Kyriakopoulos (185-83) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists respectively. Kastoria's coach Giorgos Soulios let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Apollon Patras maintains fourth place with 18-9 record. Newly promoted Kastoria keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Apollon Patras will face Amyntas Dafnis (#7) in Athens in the next round. Kastoria will play at home against the league's leader Peristeri GS and hope to win that game.
