Regular Season Round 6: Dandenong R. - Sandringham S. 107-97

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Dandenong Rangers' (1-1) home victory over 6th ranked Sabres (1-2) 107-97 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Dandenong Rangers. Sabres was better in third quarter 29-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Dandenong Rangers outrebounded Sabres 52-35 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sabres were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Anthony Drmic (198-92, college: Boise St.) who had a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. The former international forward Rhys Vague (204-96) chipped in 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Dandenong Rangers' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Nigerian-American guard Anthony Odunsi (193-92, college: Houston Baptist, agency: Haylett Sports) who recorded 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Alister Macdonald (186-92) added 23 points respectively. Four Sabres players scored in double figures. Dandenong Rangers left bottom position moving up to fourth place in League. Loser Sabres dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. Dandenong Rangers will face Diamond Valley Eagles (#6) in Greensborough in the next round. Sabres will play at home against the league's second-placed Chargers and hope to win that game.
