Regular Season Round 6: Norwood F. - Sturt S. 101-70

Date: April 14, 2018
Rather expected game in Marden where 7th ranked Sturt Sabres (1-3) were rolled over by fourth ranked Norwood Flames (3-1) 101-70 on Saturday. Norwood Flames dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Sturt Sabres' 36. They outrebounded Sturt Sabres 47-31 including a 41-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Bryan McGriff (201, college: E.Oregon) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Matthew Lycett (194-90) chipped in 18 points. Four Norwood Flames players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Nate Garth (188-89, college: UCSB) who recorded 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Dylan Rawson added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Norwood Flames maintains fourth position in League with 3-1 record. Loser Sturt Sabres keep the seventh place with three games lost. Norwood Flames will face South Adelaide Panthers (#5) in Park Holme in the next round. Sturt Sabres will play on the road against the league's second-placed North Adelaide Rockets in Greenacres and hope to win that game.
