Regular Season Round 33: Niigata Albirex - Ryukyu GK 88-84

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Ryukyu GK (41-12) on the court of fourth ranked Niigata Albirex on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Niigata Albirex 88-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ryukyu GK. Niigata Albirex shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Hassan Martin (201-95, college: Rhode Island) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Niigata Albirex maintains fourth place with 22-31 record, which they share with Toyama Grouses. Ryukyu GK at the other side still keeps top position with 12 games lost. Niigata Albirex is looking forward to face Shimane Magic (#6) on the road in the next round. Ryukyu GK will play against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses (#1) in Kariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
