Regular Season Round 29: Martorell - Lucentum 93-76

The game between third ranked HLA Alicante (20-9) and sixteenth ranked Martorell (6-23) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. HLA Alicante was defeated by Martorell in Martorell 93-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of HLA Alicante. The game was mostly controlled by Martorell. HLA Alicante managed to win fourth quarter 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding HLA Alicante to just 3 points in first quarter. Martorell dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to HLA Alicante's 28. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Martorell looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Albert Homs (201-94) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Xavi Guirao (190-87) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. American Amadou Sidibe (203-94, college: Fairfield, agency: Octagon Europe) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Alvaro Lobo (192-92, agency: Duran International) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Martorell and four HLA Alicante players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Martorell maintains sixteenth place with 6-23 record. HLA Alicante at the other side keeps the third position with nine games lost. Martorell are looking forward to face higher ranked Zamorano (#15) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. HLA Alicante will play against Albacete (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
