The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Leiden as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Leiden defeated much higher ranked Groningen on the road 112-103. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 64-48 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Leiden made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 58.1 percentage. Leiden looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Carrington Love (186-94, college: Green Bay) fired 36 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Center Clayton Vette (202-88, college: Winona St., agency: Court Side) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Brandyn Curry (187-91, college: Harvard, agency: Inception Sports) produced 21 points and 8 assists and swingman Bradford Burgess (198-90, college: VCU) added 24 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Defending champion Groningen still keeps top place with four games lost. Groningen will play next round against Amsterdam trying to get back on the winning streak. Leiden will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Rotterdam on the road.
