Regular Season Round 30: Santurtzi - Valle de Egues 75-56

Very expected game when 11th ranked Valle de Egues (9-19) was smashed on the road by sixth ranked Santurtzi (18-10) 75-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Santurtzi. Valle de Egues was better in fourth quarter 20-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Santurtzi dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Valle de Egues' 22. They outrebounded Valle de Egues 40-29 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for point guard Jon Betolaza (179-93) who led his team to a victory with 10 points and 6 assists. Forward Juan Torres (196-92) contributed with 7 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Mamadou Tew replied with 7 points and 7 rebounds and Inigo Sesma added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Valle de Egues. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Santurtzi moved-up to fifth place in Group A-A. Loser Valle de Egues dropped to the twelfth position with 19 games lost. Santurtzi will face Zarautz (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Valle de Egues will play against Burgos and hope to win that game.
