Horsholm held off Stevnsgade in the championship series opener. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. American forward Maryah Sydnor (185-93, college: Appalachian St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of her eight free throws) for the winners and Serbian forward Ivana Jovanovic (185-85) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side forward Emilie Hesseldal (186-90, college: Colorado St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international guard Ida Pretzmann (178-90, college: TCU) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds.
