Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Arxil Pontevedra (12-14) defeated at home 11th ranked Ascensores Tresa (8-18) 67-60 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-14. But Ascensores Tresa won second period 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Point guard Carla Fernandez (168-89) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Venezuelan center Ana Roman (192-82) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Arxil Pontevedra's coach Mayte Mendez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Riley Nordgaard (178-93, college: Montana St.) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds and Argentinian Isabella Sangali produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. Arxil Pontevedra maintains ninth position in Group A with 12-14 record. Ascensores Tresa lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth place with 18 games lost.
