Regular Season Round 26: Mons-Hainaut - Aalstar 73-75

Fifth-ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (13-13) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Okapi Aalstar (18-9) in Jemappes on Saturday. The visitors from Aalstar managed to secure only two-point victory 75-73. However their fans expected easier game. Strangely Belfius Mons-Hainaut outrebounded Okapi Aalstar 38-20 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Okapi Aalstar especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. American guard Vernon Taylor (192-87, college: Troy) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points. The former international swingman Olivier Troisfontaines (196-89) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Troisfontaines is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Okapi Aalstar's coach Jean-Marc Jaumin used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Matt Tiby (203-92, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) replied with 8 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import swingman Garlon Green (201-91, college: TCU) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) in the effort for Belfius Mons-Hainaut. Okapi Aalstar have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Belfius Mons-Hainaut at the other side keeps the fifth position with 13 games lost. Okapi Aalstar are looking forward to face Basic-Fit Brussels (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Belfius Mons-Hainaut will play against Limburg United and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
