Fifth-ranked Hokkaido L. (26-27) gave a tough game to second ranked Kyoto Hannar. (32-21) in Saporro on Sunday. The visitors from Kyoto managed to secure only two-point victory 73-71. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hokkaido L.. Kyoto Hannar. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American Marcus Dove (206-85, college: Oklahoma St.) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Ito Tatsuya (173-94) chipped in 14 points and 9 assists. Five Kyoto Hannar. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Dijon Thompson (201-83, college: UCLA) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Hokkaido L.'s coach Kota Mizuno tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Kyoto Hannar. maintains second place with 32-21 record having twelve points less than leader Ryukyu GK which they share with defeated Hokkaido L. Loser Hokkaido L. dropped to the second position with 27 games lost. They share it with Nagoya DD. Kyoto Hannar. will meet at home Yokohama BC (#6) in the next round. Hokkaido L. will play against Osaka Evessa (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
