Very expected game when 6th ranked Flames (2-2) were smashed by top-ranked Lightning (6-0) in Bullcreek 102-82 on Sunday. Lightning forced 25 Flames turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for American swingman Ali Schwagmeyer (177-90, college: Quincy) who led her team to a victory with 29 points, 6 assists and 6 steals. Power forward Ashleigh Grant (187-97) contributed with 28 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Darcee Garbin (187-94) replied with 30 points and 9 rebounds and guard Chelsea Armstrong (173-90) added 22 points in the effort for Flames. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lightning maintains first position in League with 6-0 record. Loser Flames dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. Lightning will have a break next round. Flames will play on the road against Slammers (#9) in Bunbury and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
