The game between closely ranked teams ended with 11th ranked Blackburn V.'s (1-4) road loss to tenth ranked Magic (2-2) 63-85 on Sunday. Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Blackburn V.'s 28. Magic had a 33-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Nelson Kirksey (190-89, college: UMKC) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Point guard Kirk Smith (178) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Magic players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Brendan Trewella who recorded 11 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and James Malvaso added 17 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Magic moved-up to seventh place in League. Newly promoted Blackburn V. keeps the eleventh position with four games lost. Magic will face Devils (#10) in Werribee in the next round. Blackburn V. will play at home against Stingrays and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
