Regular Season Round 33: Toyota Alvark - Nagoya DD 73-63

There was a small surprise in Tokyo where second ranked Toyota Alvark (39-15) defeated second-best Diamond Dolphins (26-27) 73-63 on Sunday. Toyota Alvark had a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. International power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85) stepped up and scored 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) scored 10 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark maintains second place with 39-15 record having four points less than leader Ryukyu GK which they share with defeated Diamond Dolphins. Loser Diamond Dolphins keep the second position with 27 games lost. Toyota Alvark will face San-en NeoPhoenix (#3) in Hamamatsu in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Diamond Dolphins will play at home against Toyama Grouses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
