Regular Season Round 6: Waverley F. - Eltham W. 82-74

There was a surprise result in Mount Waverley where eighth ranked Waverley Falcons (3-2) defeated higher ranked Eltham Wildcats (2-2) 82-74 on Sunday. Waverley Falcons made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Eltham Wildcats turnovers. The best player for the winners was center Adrien Sturt (209-86, college: Snow CC) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Chris Arkell (198-90) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Waverley Falcons' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Justin Aver (190-89) who recorded 16 points and 4 assists and Samuel Whelan added 19 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Waverley Falcons moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Eltham Wildcats dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Waverley Falcons will face Devils (#10) in Werribee in the next round where they are favorite. Eltham Wildcats will play on the road against the league's second-placed McKinnon C. and hope to win that game.
