Second Stage Round 4: Tokyo Cinq R. - Tokyo Excel. 76-92

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tokyo: Tokyo Excel. (#3) and Tokyo Cinq R. (#6). Tokyo Cinq R. was smashed at home by 16 points 76-92 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Tokyo Excel. dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Cinq R.'s 22 and had 23 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Tokyo Cinq R. only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded Tokyo Cinq R. 49-29 including a 38-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tokyo Excel. players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Justin Herold (203-91, college: Sonoma St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and forward Jordan Faison (201-94, college: Cal Poly Pomona) who added 14 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. Five Tokyo Excel. players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and forward Drew Martin (203-94, college: Concordia, OR, agency: Court Side) scored 6 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tokyo Excel. (5-3) moved-up to second place, which they share with Otsuka A. Tokyo Cinq R. at the other side stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Tokyo Excel. will play against Kagoshima (#4) in Renova in the next round. Tokyo Cinq R.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Tokyo HT.
