Regular Season Round 30: Quart - Menorca 67-78

Very predictable result when second ranked Menorca (18-6) won against on the road 12th ranked Quart (6-17) 78-67 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Menorca. Quart was better in second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Menorca won last quarter 23-13. They made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. Menorca outrebounded Quart 38-26 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quart was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for center Jan Orfila (207-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Gabriel Torres (198-89) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Menorca players scored in double figures. Point guard Pau Vila (190-90) replied with 18 points and 6 assists and Arnau Palol added 6 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Quart. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Menorca keeps a position of Group C-A leader, which they share with Vive El Masnou. Loser Quart keeps the twelfth place with 17 games lost. Menorca will face Castelldefels (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Quart will play against Cantaires Tortosa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
