Very predictable result in Morley where ninth ranked Eagles (4-3) outscored bottom-ranked Slammers (0-6) 96-66 on Sunday. Eagles made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Slammers' players. Slammers were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jonathan Morse (203-91, college: Metro St.) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Drew Williamson (196-83, college: Metro St.) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Morse attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. Eagles' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Michael Lay (179-84, college: Concordia, OR) who recorded 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized American power forward Clive Weeden (206-87, college: Dartmouth) added 13 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Four Slammers players scored in double figures. Eagles moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Slammers still closes the standings with six games lost. Eagles will face higher ranked Flames (#5) in Rockingham in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Slammers will play at home against Flames (#5) and hope to get finally their first victory.
