Regular Season Round 25: Maccabi Ashdod - Maccabi Haifa 85-74

Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Maccabi Haifa (7-17) was defeated on the road by third ranked Maccabi Ashdod (16-9) 85-74 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Ashdod. Maccabi Haifa managed to win fourth quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. International forward Nimrod Levi (208-95) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American-Jamaican guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Naturalized American Willy Workman (198-90, college: Amherst) produced 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Reginald Buckner (206-91, college: Mississippi) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Maccabi Ashdod have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain third place with 16-9 record behind leader Hapoel Holon. Maccabi Haifa lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will meet league's leader Hapoel Holon on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maccabi Haifa will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#5) and hope to secure a win.
