Regular Season Round 29: Libertas - Montecatini 58-101

Very predictable result when fifth ranked Montecatiniterme (19-10) rolled over bottom-ranked Libertas (0-29) in Livorno 101-58 on Sunday. Montecatiniterme dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Libertas' 32. Montecatiniterme forced 23 Libertas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Libertas' players. Center Lorenzo Galmarini (200-95) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Swingman Giorgio Artioli (200-95, agency: Players Group) contributed with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners. Four Montecatiniterme players scored in double figures. Center Mattia Soloperto (208-80) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the former international center Roberto Chiacig (210-74, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Libertas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Montecatiniterme moved-up to fourth place in B, which they share with Vicenza. Newly promoted Libertas still closes the standings with 29 games lost. Montecatiniterme will face Piombino (#5) at home in the next round. Libertas will play against Valsesia (#8) and hope to get finally their first victory.
