Very expected game in Cordoba where 12th ranked Olimpico de La Banda (15-19) was defeated by fourth ranked Atenas (24-10) 92-79 on Wednesday. Atenas shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Jerome Meyinsse (207-88, college: Virginia, agency: Dutt Sports Services) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St., agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 18 points and 7 assists. Atenas' coach Nicolas Casalanguida used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Puerto Rican Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Jonatan Machuca (182-89) added 10 points and 9 assists respectively.
