Regular Season Round 33: Sokhumi - Kutaisi 66-110

Superleague top team - Kutaisi (20-9) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Sokhumi (1-28) in Tbilisi 110-66. The game was mostly controlled by Kutaisi. Sokhumi was better in second period 23-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kutaisi dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Sokhumi's 30. Kutaisi forced 20 Sokhumi turnovers and outrebounded them 41-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Jonathan Lee (188-90, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 4 assists. The former international Akaki Dvalishvili (207-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Kutaisi's coach Konstantine Tugushi felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Sergo Atuashvili (223-85) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and Levan Revazashvili (210-92) added 21 points in the effort for Sokhumi. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kutaisi maintains first place with 20-9 record. Sokhumi lost their twenty sixth game in a row. They stay dead last with 28 lost games. Kutaisi's next round opponent will be Mgzavrebi (#7) in Tbilisi which should be theoretically another easy game. Sokhumi will play on the road against Energy Invest in Rustavi and hope to win that game.
