Regular Season Round 8: Navolato - Guaymas 89-103

There was a minor upset when 4th ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (4-3) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (5-3) 103-89 on Wednesday. Ostioneros de Guaymas made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Allen West (206-91, college: Nevada) who helped to win the game recording 28 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and the other American import guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) who added 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. American forward Brandon Swannegan (206-93, college: Tulsa) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) scored 20 points. Five Ostioneros de Guaymas and four Garra Canera de Navolato players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ostioneros de Guaymas moved-up to third place, which they share with Guasave and Hermosillo. Garra Canera de Navolato at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Culiacan. Ostioneros de Guaymas will meet at home Frayles de Guasave (#4) in the next round. Garra Canera de Navolato will play against Rayos de Hermosillo and hope to secure a win.
