Round 8 in CIBACOPA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Guasave where host Frayles de Guasave (5-3) beat league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo (5-3) 104-93 on Wednesday evening. Frayles de Guasave outrebounded Rayos de Hermosillo 38-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) who scored 22 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Decensae White (198-88, college: San Francisco St.) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. White is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Guard Tyshawn Abbott (192-88, college: Arizona St.) produced 26 points and 4 assists and forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Five Frayles de Guasave and four Rayos de Hermosillo players scored in double figures. Frayles de Guasave moved-up to third place, which they share with Guaymas and Hermosillo. Rayos de Hermosillo will play next round against Garra Canera de Navolato trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Frayles de Guasave will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas on the road.
