Regular Season Round 10: Macae - Cerrado 89-58

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Cerrado (1-12) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Macae (6-6) 89-58 on Thursday. Macae dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Cerrado's 34. They outrebounded Cerrado 34-23 including 28 on the defensive glass. American point guard Nate Barnes (178-90, college: Alders.-Broad.) fired 19 points for the winners. The other American import guard Isaac Thornton (190-91, college: Fairmont St.) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Five Macae players scored in double figures. Point guard Wilton Dos-Santos (180-89) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Frederico Lima (183-80) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Macae maintains sixth position with 6-6 record. Cerrado lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. Macae will face higher ranked Brasilia (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
