Regular Season Round 18: Catanduva - Blumenau 50-87

Bottom-ranked Catanduva (0-15) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 15th consecutive match to fifth ranked Blumenau (8-7) 87-50. Blumenau dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Catanduva's 20. They outrebounded Catanduva 39-28 including 34 on the defensive glass. Guard Mariana De-Almeida (180-85, college: ORU) notched 18 points to lead the effort and Venezuelan Waleska Perez (180-94, college: Weatherford JC) supported her with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Blumenau's coach Joao Camargo felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by Argentinian guard Julieta Ale (176-95) did not help to save the game for Catanduva. The former international center Tatiana Conceicao (187-81, college: SE Missouri St.) added 19 points. Blumenau moved-up to fourth place. Catanduva at the other side still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Blumenau will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Catanduva will play again at home against Blumenau (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
