Regular Season Round 9: Guaymas - Guasave 98-95

The most exciting game of round 9 in the CIBACOPA took place in Guaymas. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Frayles de Guasave (5-4) to fifth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (6-3) 98-95 on Friday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for center Allen West (206-91, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. Guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) answered with 27 points and center Anthony Parker (206-93) added 22 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Frayles de Guasave. Ostioneros de Guaymas keep a position of league leader, which they share with Durango and Tijuana. Frayles de Guasave at the other side dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Hermosillo. Ostioneros de Guaymas is again looking forward to face Frayles de Guasave (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Frayles de Guasave will have a break next round.
