Regular Season Round 7: Joondalup W. - Cockburn C. 69-59

Everything could happen in Joondalup at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Wanneroo and 8th ranked Cougars had identical 2-3 record. This time Wanneroo used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Hamilton Hill 69-59 on Friday night. Wanneroo looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Cougars' players. It was a great evening for power forward Ellyce Ironmonger (193-89, college: Oregon) who led her team to a victory scoring 7 points and 17 rebounds. Guard Shani Amos (170-91) helped adding 6 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists. At the losing side American forward Kisha Lee (182-85, college: UNLV) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and Haylee De-Sousa scored 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Wanneroo (3-3) moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Cougars dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Wanneroo will face higher ranked Flames (#5) in Rockingham in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cougars will play on the road against Slammers (#10) in Bunbury and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
