Regular Season Round 34: Toshiba BT - Tochigi Brex 89-61

The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers Tochigi Brex's (32-24) road loss to third ranked Toshiba Thunders (37-19) 61-89 on Friday. Toshiba Thunders outrebounded Tochigi Brex 39-26 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) chipped in 20 points. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) produced 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toshiba Thunders have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 37-19 record having seven points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Defending champion Tochigi Brex keeps the fourth place with 24 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar. at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tochigi Brex will play against Hitachi Sunrockers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
