Regular Season Round 7: Joondalup W. - Cockburn C. 95-65

Date: April 20, 2018
Very predictable result when first ranked Wanneroo (6-1) rolled over 11th ranked Cougars (2-5) in Joondalup 95-65 on Friday. Wanneroo forced 22 Cougars turnovers and outrebounded them 42-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Quite impressive performance for American forward Jalen Billups (198-92, college: N.Kentucky, agency: Haylett Sports) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Brian Sullivan (180-93, college: Davidson) contributed with 9 points and 7 assists for the winners. Swingman Julian Pesava (193-95, college: Wayland Baptist) answered with 18 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Gavin Field (202-89, college: W.Georgia) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Cougars. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Despite that victory Wanneroo went down to second position (League) due to points difference. Loser Cougars keep the eleventh place with five games lost. Wanneroo will face Flames (#5) in Rockingham in the next round. Cougars will play on the road against Slammers (#14) in Bunbury and hope to win that game.
