A very close game took place in Saporro between Osaka Evessa and Hokkaido L.. Third ranked Osaka Evessa (22-33) got a very close victory on the road over 5th ranked Hokkaido L. (26-29). Osaka Evessa managed to escape with a 3-point win 86-83 on Saturday evening. Osaka Evessa looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St.) scored 30 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Keith Benson (211-88, college: Oakland) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American swingman Dijon Thompson (201-83, college: UCLA) responded with 26 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and guard Asahi Tajima (173-88) scored 11 points and 6 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Osaka Evessa maintains third position with 22-33 record having twenty three points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with Toyama Grouses. Hokkaido L. lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 29 games lost. Osaka Evessa will meet at home Shiga L-Stars (#4) in the next round. Hokkaido L. will play against the league's leader Chiba Jets and hope to secure a win.
