Regular Season Round 55: Akita NH - Sendai 89ers 92-82

An interesting game for Akita Happinets (48-6) which hosted in Akita 4th placed Sendai 89ers (20-34). First ranked Akita Happinets managed to get a 10-point victory 92-82. Akita Happinets forced 19 Sendai 89ers turnovers. Strangely Sendai 89ers outrebounded Akita Happinets 40-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Akita Happinets especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Sendai 89ers were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for the former international guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 assists. American forward Chris Cayole (201-85, college: St.Michael's) contributed with 23 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. South Sudanese-American forward Angelo Chol (206-93, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) answered with 21 points and 8 rebounds and guard Kaito Ishikawa (188-90) added 12 points and 6 assists in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Akita Happinets. They maintain first place with 48-6 record. Loser Sendai 89ers keep the fourth position with 34 games lost. Akita Happinets will face again Sendai 89ers (#4) at home in the next round.
