Rather expected game in Mt. Barker where 9th ranked Mavericks (1-5) were crushed by sixth ranked Bearcats (3-3) 86-61 on Saturday. Bearcats dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Mavericks' 38. Bearcats forced 36 Mavericks turnovers. It was a great evening for guard Ieva Nagy (177-91, college: Troy) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points. Keeley Pearce helped adding 17 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Bearcats players scored in double figures. Bearcats' coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Samantha Lubcke (188-96, college: Utah Valley, agency: AgainHello) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and Brooke Basham scored 18 points. Bearcats moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Mavericks keep the ninth position with five games lost. Bearcats will face Lions (#8) in Gawler in the next round. Mavericks will play at home against the league's leader Rockets and hope to win that game.
