Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Estudio (10-18) was defeated on the road by third ranked Villarrobledo (22-6) 89-78 on Saturday. Villarrobledo outrebounded Estudio 50-28 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Villarrobledo made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Vadal Faniel (201-92, college: Texas A&M Int.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Senegalese forward Bruno Diatta (208-96) helped adding 10 points, 18 rebounds and 6 blocks. Villarrobledo's coach Manuel Jimenez used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side forward Gabriel Rodriguez (198) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and center Rogelio De-Leon (208-89) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Villarrobledo. They moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Real Madrid II and Azuqueca. Newly promoted Estudio keeps the eleventh position with 18 games lost. Villarrobledo will face CB Guadalajara (#5) on the road in the next round. Estudio will play against Casvi (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
