Regular Season Round 31: Mondragon - Ardoi 67-70

Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Ardoi (13-16) edged on the road 13th ranked Mondragon (9-20) 70-67 on Saturday. Ardoi dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Mondragon's 22. They outrebounded Mondragon 40-24 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for guard Ignacio Urtasun (187-80) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points. Center Andres Zabaleta (200-94) helped adding 13 points. At the losing side point guard Aitor Carrera (180-89) responded with 12 points and 4 assists and American forward Jordan Rutherford (201-95, college: St.Gregory) scored 16 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Ardoi. They moved-up to ninth place in Group A-A, which they share with La Fecha. Loser Mondragon keeps the thirteenth position with 20 games lost. Ardoi will face Valle de Egues (#14) in Olaz in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mondragon will play on the road against the league's leader Estela having rather not much hope for a victory.
