There was no surprise when 13th ranked Giants (1-6) lost to fourth ranked Redbacks (6-2) in Northbridge 69-83 on Saturday. Redbacks made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Quite impressive performance for the former international forward Shawn Redhage (203-81, college: Arizona St.) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Maurice Barrow (196-92, college: Fairfield) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Redbacks players scored in double figures. American forward Jake Martin (198-85, college: Luther) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 19 rebounds and the other American import swingman Jeylyn Sharpe (194-91, college: Rogers St.) added 21 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Giants. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Redbacks maintains fourth place in League with 6-2 record. Loser Giants dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. Redbacks will face Tigers (#7) in Willetton in the next round. Giants will play at home against Hawks (#6) and hope to win that game.
