Regular Season Round 31: Ponferrada CDP - Naron 74-80

Date: April 21, 2018
There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Naron (14-15) won against on the road bottom-ranked Ponferrada CDP (14-15) 80-74 on Saturday. It was a great evening for American point guard Dom Hunter (183-93, college: Cent.Washington) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import Shanon Fowler (-93) helped adding 22 points and 13 rebounds. At the losing side Senegalese center Serigne Barro (208-95) responded with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks and Brazilian center Dida Pereira (203-92, college: Sequoias CC) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Naron moved-up to eighth place in Group A-B, which they share with Ponferrada CDP and Innova Chef. Naron will face Obradoiro II (#14) in Santiago de Comp in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ponferrada CDP will play on the road against COB (#11) in Ourense and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
