Regular Season Round 31: Casvi - Quintanar 71-81

Everything could happen in Villaviciosa at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Quintanar and 13th ranked Casvi had identical 9-18 record. But Casvi was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Quintanar 81-71 on Saturday night. Casvi was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Dominican forward Gregorio Adon (198-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Khion Sankey (196, college: Lipscomb) helped adding 21 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side British center Gatluak Thiep (213-92, college: Fayetteville St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds and American-Nigerian guard Deji Ibitayo (193-93, college: Akron, agency: Duran International) scored 17 points. Four Casvi players scored in double figures. Casvi's coach Jose Antonio Sanchez tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Quintanar (10-18) moved-up to eleventh place in Group B, which they share with Estudio. Loser Casvi keeps the thirteenth position with 19 games lost. Quintanar will face league's leader Almansa at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Casvi will play against Estudio (#11) in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
