Regular Season Round 28: Ethnikos - Karditsas 90-63

Rather expected game when 11th ranked Karditsas (11-17) was smashed by eighth ranked Ethnikos (15-13) in Pireus 90-63 on Saturday. Ethnikos shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a very good performance for guard Kyriakos Karakonstantakis (187-94) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Kostas Macheras (205-85) contributed with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Ethnikos players scored in double figures. Swingman Georgios Mavrogiannis (193-92) replied with 6 points and 8 assists and point guard Kostas Pappas (188-97) added 10 points in the effort for Karditsas. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ethnikos moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Doxa Lefkadas. Newly promoted Karditsas keeps the eleventh position with 17 games lost. Ethnikos will face Papagou (#12) in Athens in the next round where they are favorite. Karditsas will play at home against Doxa Lefkadas and hope to win that game.
