Regular Season Round 7: Maitland M. - Hills H. 55-89

Date: April 21, 2018
Very expected game when 9th ranked Maitland Mustangs (1-5) were smashed at home by second ranked Hills Hornets (6-1) 89-55 on Saturday. Hills Hornets made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Hills Hornets outrebounded Maitland Mustangs 48-31 including a 40-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Hills Hornets especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Quite impressive performance for Adrian Cabrera who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds. Joshua Chapman contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Hills Hornets players scored in double figures. Daniel Millburn answered with 24 points and 5 rebounds and Jack Edwards added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Maitland Mustangs. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Hills Hornets maintains second place in League with 6-1 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Geraldton B. Loser Maitland Mustangs keep the ninth position with five games lost. Hills Hornets will face Sydney City Comets (#4) in Alexandria in the next round. Maitland Mustangs will play on the road against Norths Soul Sports Bears (#6) in Crows Nest and hope to win that game.
