Regular Season Round 29: Burgos - Joventut 79-80

A very interesting game took place in Burgos. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 14th ranked Burgos (10-19) to seventeenth ranked Joventut (8-20) 80-79 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Burgos. Burgos was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 24-19 third quarter run of Joventut. They made 23-of-27 charity shots (85.2 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Burgos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Demitrius Conger (196-90, college: St.Bonaventure) saved the victory by scoring 16 points and 6 rebounds. Lithuanian forward Saulius Kulvietis (205-91) contributed with 17 points for the winners. American guard John Jenkins (193-91, college: Vanderbilt, agency: BeoBasket) answered with 16 points and international forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Mississippi) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Burgos. Five Joventut and four Burgos players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Joventut moved-up to fifteenth place. Newly promoted Burgos keeps the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. Joventut's next round opponent will be higher ranked Valencia Basket (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
