Regular Season Round 21: Niki Lefkadas - Panathlitikos 92-50

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Panathlitikos (4-17) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Niki Lefkadas (11-10) 92-50 on Sunday. The game without a history. Niki Lefkadas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Panathlitikos to just 7 points in second quarter. Niki Lefkadas dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Panathlitikos' 28. Niki Lefkadas forced 20 Panathlitikos turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Peyton Whitted (190-95, college: Penn St.) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Hailey Dunham (188-87, college: USC) chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Niki Lefkadas players scored in double figures. Niki Lefkadas' coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Antigoni Chairistanidou (188-91) who recorded 17 points and 6 rebounds and Evaggelia Nastou (174-95) added 5 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Niki Lefkadas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with PAOK. Loser Panathlitikos keeps the eleventh position with 17 games lost. Niki Lefkadas will face bottom-ranked Panathinaikos (#12) in Athens in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panathlitikos will play at home against the league's leader Olympiacos and hope to win that game.
