Eighth-ranked DELTA (10-19) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Batumi (17-14) on Sunday. Batumi managed to secure only two-point victory 86-84. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 25-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Batumi outrebounded DELTA 44-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Ukrainian forward Leonid Stefanishin (199-85) fired 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Eric Childress (183-94, college: UCSB) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. American Deondre Ray (196, college: Cameron) produced 23 points and guard Saba Lobjanidze (192-93) added 14 points and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Four Batumi and five DELTA players scored in double figures. Batumi maintains fifth position with 17-14 record. Newly promoted DELTA keeps the eighth place with 19 games lost. Batumi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. DELTA will play at home against Dinamo Tbilisi (#3) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
