Regular Season Round 29: Roanne - Nancy 69-63
Date: April 22, 2018
Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Sluc Nancy (17-12) lost on the road to third ranked Chorale de Roanne (22-7) 69-63. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Sluc Nancy was ahead by 7 points after three quarters before a 20-7 charge of Chorale de Roanne, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sluc Nancy to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Chorale de Roanne forced 21 Sluc Nancy turnovers. Strangely Sluc Nancy outrebounded Chorale de Roanne 40-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Sluc Nancy helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American David Jackson (195-86, college: W.Illinois) who scored 15 points and 4 assists. Guard Mathis Keita (192-92, college: Indiana, PA) chipped in 7 points and 7 assists. Forward Valentin Chery (200-97) produced 6 points and 10 rebounds and Canadian-Jamaican swingman Jevohn Shepherd (196-86, college: Michigan) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Chorale de Roanne maintains third place with 22-7 record having just two points less than leader Blois. Sluc Nancy at the other side keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. Chorale de Roanne's next round opponent will be Quimper UJAP (#17) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Sluc Nancy will play against STB Le Havre (#16) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProA just one year after relegation.
