Regular Season Round 30: Cholet - Pau-Lacq-Orthez 86-76

We should mention about the upset which took place in Cholet, where higher ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (16-14) lost to fifteenth ranked Cholet Basket (12-18) in a road game 76-86 on Tuesday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Pau-Lacq-Orthez. The game was mostly controlled by Cholet Basket. Pau-Lacq-Orthez managed to win third quarter 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Pau-Lacq-Orthez 40-26 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Toddrick Gotcher (190-93, college: Texas Tech) scored 20 points to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Ryan Evans (202-90, college: Wisconsin) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Cholet Basket players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international point guard Elie-Franck Okobo (188-97) with 20 points and 7 assists and American swingman Chris Dowe (191-91, college: Bellarmine) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Pau-Lacq-Orthez's coach Serge Crevecoeur rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cholet Basket moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Chalons-Reims. Pau-Lacq-Orthez at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Limoges and Nanterre. Cholet Basket will meet higher ranked JSF Nanterre (#9) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will play against SIG Strasbourg where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
