Regular Season Round 29: Lille - Aix-Maurienne 67-59

Very expected game when 12th ranked Aix-Maurienne (12-17) lost on the road to fifth ranked Lille Metropole (19-10) 67-59. It looked good early as Aix-Maurienne took a 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lille Metropole took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 8 points. The best player for the winners was American forward Rakeem Buckles (203-90, college: FIU) who scored 23 points and 8 rebounds. Swingman Thomas Ceci-Diop (199-92) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized Algerian Karim Atamna (196-80) produced 11 points and 4 assists and American-British point guard Akeem Williams (178-91, college: Mass.-Lowell) added 7 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lille Metropole moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Fos-Provence and Saint-Chamond. Aix-Maurienne at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Lille Metropole's next round opponent will be ALM Evreux (#10) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Aix-Maurienne will play against JA Vichy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
