Regular Season Round 27: Maccabi Haifa - Hapoel J-M 68-71

Very expected game when 12th ranked Maccabi Haifa (7-20) was edged at home by fourth ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (17-10) 71-68 on Thursday. Maccabi Haifa was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a good game for American Jerome Dyson (191-87, college: Connecticut) who led his team to a victory with 21 points. Greek Stratos Perperoglou (203-84) contributed with 10 points for the winners. American forward Reginald Buckner (206-91, college: Mississippi) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and American-Panamanian point guard Trevor Gaskins (188-89, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Pro Sports) added 15 points in the effort for Maccabi Haifa. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Hapoel Jerusalem. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Hapoel Holon. Maccabi Haifa lost their sixth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 20 games lost. Hapoel Jerusalem will face league's second-placed Maccabi Ashdod at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maccabi Haifa will play against Ironi Nahariya (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
