Gran Canaria defeated Adelantados in Las Palmas 70-63. The game without a history. Gran Canaria led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gran Canaria shot 22 for 30 from the free-throw line, while Adelantados only scored six points from the stripe. Gran Canaria forced 19 Adelantados turnovers and outrebounded them 48-36 including 19 on the offensive glass. American guard Erica Covile (185, college: Temple) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Her fellow American import point guard Starr Breedlove (168-93, college: UTEP) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Guard Patricia Benet (170-88) produced 16 points and 5 assists and Nigerian guard Adaeze Alaeze-Dinma (178-94, college: VCU) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Adelantados' coach Claudo Garcia rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Adelantados will play next round against strong GDKO Bizkaia trying to get back on the winning streak. Gran Canaria will try to continue on its current victory against Real Celta Vigo on the road.
